Indie means a band belongs to an Independent label. They have more freedom than Major bands, but don't have the financial support of Major labels. Indie is usually where the typical band begins; everyday, there are countless bands emerging. A few of the more well know Indie bands are Shulla, metronome, Ayabie and HY.

Similar Terms

This is not to be confused with Indies, an Engrish term used chiefly to describe bands on independent record labels in the visual-kei and angura-kei world. Sometimes these terms are mixed, and then it is up to the reader to decide the true meaning, however irrelevant.
